Court Sentencing People to Shaming?

Courts normally have certain guidelines in sentencing violators of the law. However when left to their own devices, judges can come up with some very clever ways to administer a more fitting sense of justice. Here we have a woman who was sentenced to holding a sign that reads, "ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD DRIVE ON THE SIDEWALK TO AVOID A SCHOOL BUS", which was her punishment for apparently doing what the sign says. Check out the full article which includes other unique sentences such as, cutting off a ponytail and forcing a man to sleep in a dog house. Is this style of justice to fitting or too much?
